How to play MLB Heatmap

Complete the 24-category board with the highest score you can. Choose an unclaimed diamond, then search for a player who fits it.

The hourglass stays connected around the central score. Older Dailies keep their original board and neighbour connections.

Your player also matches the selected tile’s immediate neighbours. Only shared edges connect: corner contact and the central score do not connect tiles. Matches never spread beyond those neighbours.

New tiles score together: one earns 1 point, two earn 3, three earn 6, four earn 10 and five earn 15. Each matching already-claimed neighbour adds 1 point and reheats. Heat does not multiply points. Claimed tiles get warmer colours as their heat increases.

Unclaimed tiles are dark navy. Every newly claimed tile starts blue. Its first reheat turns it yellow, its second orange, its third red, and its fourth dark red. Four reheats is the maximum. A white outline marks your selected tile; coral outlines mark its connected neighbours, including claimed tiles that can reheat.

A confirmed wrong answer costs 1 point, with a minimum score of zero. Each player can score once per Daily. Previously wrong answers can be tried again. There is no timer or guess limit.

Plan your move order. A claimed tile cannot be selected again, so a large combo can remove useful future anchors. The game ends when every category is claimed. Give up saves your score and finishes the attempt.

Today’s board is the same for everyone. A saved Daily cannot be restarted for a higher score. Released past Dailies retain their original board and data.

Search suggestions identify players; they do not reveal qualifying answers. Every answer is checked against the selected category and its connected neighbours, using the published archive scope.

How MLB Heatmap works

MLB Heatmap rewards connections between neighbouring baseball categories. Fill the twenty-four tiles around the central score using local matches. There is no timer or guess limit. Choose useful anchors to maximise your score.

How to play

  1. Choose an unclaimed tile as your anchor, then read its full condition above the player search. The highlighted neighbours share an edge with it; corners and the central score do not create connections.
  2. Name a player who fits the anchor. The game also checks that player against its immediate neighbours, claiming matching empty tiles and reheating matching tiles already claimed. Matches do not spread farther across the board.
  3. Use a fresh player after every successful move. A player can score only once per Daily, although an earlier wrong answer may be tried again elsewhere. The round finishes when all tiles are claimed or you choose Give up.

Scoring

One, two, three, four or five new tiles earn 1, 3, 6, 10 or 15 points. Each matching claimed neighbour adds one point. Heat colours show repeated matches, not a multiplier. An incorrect guess costs one point, with a floor of zero.

Playing tips

Inspect the whole local group before guessing. Larger combos earn more, but claiming a useful tile removes it as a future anchor. Consider which remaining tile could connect your next player to several categories.
